BC Hydro Energy Analytics Solution
BC Hydro’s Smart Meter Initiative includes using smart meter data to ensure the corporation’s energy is accounted for, with respect to energy consumption and revenue generation. BC Hydro engaged EMC to develop the Energy Analytics Solution (EAS). Based on a Google maps interface within a Space Time Insights application, and using SAS analytics and a Greenplum data warehouse, the secure intranet application enables BC Hydro analysts and investigators to visualize and analyze their energy grid. CurrentDesign was engaged to manage delivery of the user experience.
As the EAS Visualization Team Lead, Trevor Tunnacliffe led a team of business analysts responsible for designing and delivering the application’s user interface. Deliverables included user stories/requirements, sitemap, wireframes, and milestone presentations to leadership, all developed in consultation with an array of stakeholders.
“Trevor successfully delivered on his responsibilities in a challenging environment. When faced with conflicting stakeholder pressures, he remained focused on the project’s best interests. Beyond his primary responsibilities, he was more than willing to pitch in wherever needed to help ensure project success. It was a pleasure working with Trevor and I would gladly work side by side with him on any future endeavor.”
