The BC Association of Kinesiologists came to us with not only a need for a new website, but to get help migrating all their operational technology from their previous supplier. We began with gaining an understanding of their strategic goals, including having Kinesiology established as a regulated profession in British Columbia. Success criteria for the new website and membership database included reducing the effort for new practicing member applications by 50%. We then elicited detailed requirements for all their technology needs and wrote an RFP for delivering a solution. After reviewing the responding proposals, BCAK elected to work with us to deliver the solution, launched on November 1st, 2018.
A significant portion of the project budget was allocated to designing an application framework oriented to supporting evolving membership data requirements as the association positions itself for regulation. In response to BCAK’s need for a more efficient membership application process, we created an interactive workflow, allowing applicants and the assigned review committee member to work through the application process together, online.
The new website includes a public-facing component, but most of the features are available to logged in users. Guests are able to purchase job and event postings and member eblasts, as well as to apply for membership. Members have access to their own secure area of the site, while the Application review committee has further access to process membership applications. Site administrators have full control over site content, as well as the ability to moderate submitted posts before publication, and to administer membership records. The member communication lists are synchronized with the database, ensuring recipients are up to date with respect to their membership and opt-in status.
“Trevor at CurrentDesign was instrumental in assisting us in developing a custom CMS and database system to handle the growing needs of our Non-profit society. The new system provides a cleaner layout, enhanced security for account login and reduces administration paperwork related to membership application processing. I highly recommend that you discuss your CMS needs with Trevor to see what type of solution he can provide for you.”
